Natural Hair in Berlin
December 29, 2011 in My hair
If you are really familiar with me so far you know that a while ago I cut my hair off, or what I have been hearing I did the “big chop.” I have done this every few years or so, but this time I really wanted to see what my natural hair looked like healthy. This was back in May. I was wearing my hair most of the time and doing wigs when I felt like covering my hair, was lazy, or had to do a shoot or take pictures. Now that I am in Berlin, I don’t really need to wear my hair in a wig anymore, but I have been for the first few days I have been here. I guess because there are so many whites, I did not want to scare folks with my little fro. After some days though, I decided whatever, I will just be me. Sometimes I do like to wear wigs ( I went to beauty school, I love to experiment) but I want to see what my hair can do. This is me with a wig:
Mind you I am wearing a bunch of makeup. I feel with this look I am more accepted overall with more people. Especially other blacks. My boyfriend though really likes the short natural look. I told him I am growing it back out, but he prefers it short. This is me with my short hair:
Personally, I like either style.
I thought it would be harder to do my natural hair here, but I just got some store gel, and this works better than the eco styler stuff I was using in the states. Besides, Amazon delivers here if I really need my stuff. Right now I use on occasion Kinky Curly, Miss Jessies, and simple gels as well as coconut oil. My hair is a 4 something. All I know it’s very tight curl and I need a lot of product to define it.
I finally wore my natural hair yesterday, and received so many compliments I think I will keep the look for the time being.
xoxo
